La Palma Airport (SPC)
Airport Information

(La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain)

La Palma Airport (SPC) services the small Canary Island of La Palma. The number of passengers passing through this compact airport has grown every year, now topping one million annually. The airport serves a variety of international and domestic destinations, with most of the international destinations from La Palma including cities in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. The airport features one terminal with Arrivals on the ground floor (P0) and Departures on the first floor (P1).

The airport is located 8 km / 5 miles south of the island's capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma, and next to La Polvasera and San Simón. La Palma Airport can be accessed by using the busy LP-138 road, which runs through a tunnel and actually beneath the runway itself, before rejoining the LP-132 road and connecting Fuencaliente, close to Hoyo de Mazo.

Well-known car hire companies, such as Avis and Hertz, have counters in the Arrivals Hall on P0. Car parking facilities are composed of one large car park near the terminal. Hiring a taxi or car at La Palma Airport is a simple way to reach locations such as Brena Baja (west), Las Caletas (south), San Andrés (north), Puerto Naos (south-west) and the centrally located Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente. Airport buses are also available and run throughout the day at 30-minute intervals.

About La Palma Tourism

La Palma is known in Spanish as 'the green island' and is one of the smallest and most westerly of the Canary Islands. Famous for not only its beaches but also its beautiful mountains, forests and vineyards, La Palma contains a number of breathtaking gorges and picture-postcard scenery. For beach lovers, a visit to the sands of Puerto Naos is a must, where you can soak up the sun beneath swaying palm trees.

Close to La Palma Airport (SPC) are numerous hiking and walking trails, where visitors can explore volcanoes, craters, caves and the natural vegetation. The island's small towns hold their own interests with museums, cobbled streets, shops and restaurants to enjoy. There is also a ferry service that will let travellers visit some of the other Canary Islands, such as Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
