In common with all the Canary Islands, La Palma caters to tourists and offers a particularly beautiful coastline. As you would therefore expect, there is a multitude of resorts, hotels, villas, inns and other accommodation to choose from on the island, within easy reach of La Palma Airport (SPC).

La Palma: Airport Hotels and Accommodation

There are some hotels quite near La Palma Airport, but more accommodation can be found in central Santa Cruz de la Palma. Santa Cruz, the island's capital, is a mere 8 km / 5 miles from the airport.

La Palma: City Hotels and Accommodation

A somewhat diverse selection of accommodation can be found throughout the island of La Palma, meeting most requirements. Those on a budget and planning to camp will find five individual and fairly basic camping grounds around the Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente, although these sites do require advance confirmation before arrival.

An increasingly popular alternative to more mainstream hotels, La Palma's 'Casas Rurales' are literally rural houses and offer an insight into island life. Much of this accommodation has been thoroughly refurbished and renovated, featuring secluded spots, appealing views and private gardens. There are around 80 Casas Rurales scattered around La Palma. The Asociación de Turismo Rural along the Calle El Pósito is a useful point of reference for any related enquiries about this type of lodging.

La Palma tends to be far less developed and commercial than many of the larger Canary Islands, meaning that it can be more difficult to find suitable accommodation. Popular hotels are clustered in the main towns, including the island's capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma, and around other resorts, such as Los Cancajos, and Puerto Naos - along the western shoreline. Guest houses are also worth considering and most are family run, known locally as 'pensiones'.
